60 Second Vision Update - How To Reach Your Goals
Share
If you’ve ever felt like your goals took on a life of their own, don’t worry—you’re not alone. I recently recorded a podcast episode about the whirlwind of my own new year ambitions. It’s been hectic, but I’m finally seeing the pieces come together. It’s a good reminder that your intuition, although sometimes drowned out, has plenty to say when you listen.
In this episode (the player is right at the top of the page), I talk about the process of trusting gut feelings, especially when you’ve spent years hearing they’re wrong. Unwinding old habits takes time, but it’s happening bit by bit. Below, I’ll walk through the highlights.
Learning to Trust Your Intuition
Many of us with dyslexia or ADHD have been told we see things differently. That can lead us to doubt our own instincts. I’ve experienced the same block: you start doubting your hunches, then find it difficult to believe you can sense what’s right without a manual in front of you.
In the podcast, I share how my new year goals felt almost impossible at first. I questioned whether I was on the right track. But by taking a step back, I realised my intuitive ideas were pointing me toward the next stage of growth.
“Sometimes you need to quiet the noise around you and trust that inner feeling, even if it feels strange at first.”
Unwinding Old Conditioning
It’s not always a simple flip of a switch. We spend so long hearing, “That’s not how you do it,” or “Why can’t you just follow the process?” Those words can get stuck on repeat. It takes effort and patience to break free.
In the episode, I share a few approaches that helped me press the ‘reset’ button:
- Consciously question lingering self-doubt.
- Celebrate small wins, no matter how minor.
- Ask for guidance from people who’ve walked a similar path.
These small shifts add up. You start rewiring how you react when your gut tells you something.
Piecing Goals Together
At the start of the year, I listed out my big ambitions. Admittedly, it freaked me out to see them all on paper. I worried I was biting off more than I could chew. But with a clearer head and more trust in my intuition, I’m seeing each piece sit neatly in place.
One thing that helped was making these goals feel manageable. Instead of one massive to-do list, I broke them down into smaller, friendlier bits. I gave myself permission to revise goals without feeling like I’d failed. It’s amazing how freeing that can be.
Feeling the Momentum
There’s a moment when you notice everything’s lining up and you stop overthinking. You feel momentum rolling. When you’re comfortable enough to say, “Yes, I’m doing this my way and it will work,” you let go of a huge mental weight.
I also share in the episode how important community is. Friends or mentors who remind you of your strengths can bring you back on track. Feeling like you’re part of a team is a big confidence boost you can’t measure on a checklist.
Where to Get Extra Help
If you’re reading this and thinking, “I need that guidance,” I hear you. There’s nothing like a bit of coaching or a friendly push from someone who understands what dyslexia and ADHD can feel like. Maybe all you need is someone who says, “Here’s what I see working for you,” and then helps you map a way forward.
